About Evalyn

Evalyn grew up in Bundaberg, a small town with a surprisingly rich string culture. At the tender age of 14, Evalyn focused her passion for music education into her very first teaching studio.

After graduating high school, Evalyn studied at the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University earning a Bachelor of Music (cello). During this time, Evalyn studied performance under Markus Stocker and Matthew Farrel and string pedagogy under Elizabeth Morgan.

Seeking perspective of culture and education, Evalyn relocated to South Korea for 4 years to teach English, music and study language acquisition. The correspondence between language acquisition and music pedagogy is now a strong pillar in Evalyn’s teaching methods.

Evalyn is currently teaching from her home studio in Toowong as well as her studio at Canterbury College, Waterford. Evalyn regularly performs with the Queensland Pops Orchestra and Corda Spiritus of St. Andrew’s.

Hi, just wondering if you teach Double bass at all?

    • Hi there! Yes, I do teach double bass but only beginner students. If you are looking for an intermediate/advanced double bass teacher, I would be happy to put you in contact with some extremely talented double bassists.
